2006 WSOP Champ Jamie Gold's father passed away recently. Jamie had just landed in Las Vegas to play in the $15,000 Bellagio 5 Diamond Poker Classic when he got the call, and got right back on a plane home. Gold's father, a doctor, suffered from Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). WSOP viewers may remember tender moments during the ESPN telecast where Gold would talk to his father on the telephone, at a point when the disease had already taken many of his faculties away. What the holidays mean to me

I love Christmas because if you get up early enough you can go open you presents and play with them all day. It is so fun but if the toy takes batteries and you don’t have any you have to go out and buy them. It’s cool to go over to you grandparents and get you toys, money, or clothes. If you get a lot of money you can go out and buy pretty much any thing you want. Our family usually has our grandparents come over to our house for dinner or we go over to there’s. The night before Christmas it is very hard to go to sleep because you think of what you’re going to get and do tomorrow. I think that Christmas is really cool so I made this Poem.

Kroes also mentioned an initial investigation, wherein they stated that the French scheme "may give rise to a potentially broad interpretation and it is not clear that they make it possible to select only videogames with a cultural content."
